Microfinance Volunteer Project
Volunteers will also help with a wide variety of tasks which could include reading through business plans, developing marketing strategies, small loan management accounts and checking on the eligibility of members seeking micro- loans. Most of the people you will be working with are hard-working but poor families and individuals, especially women, who have already started small businesses but need general business guidance and financial support to grow their business. PCCS staff along with volunteers provide all the beneficiaries with business skill training before they receive their first small loan payment. As you familiarize yourself with the basic needs of the local people you can also help them capitalize on small scale entrepreneurship through basic computer literacy training.
As a volunteer, you will spend time in a completely new environment, learning about a different culture and way of life while helping to fight poverty. It will be a rewarding as well as challenging experience. The project runs year round so you can volunteer at any time. While volunteering on the project and working alongside the PCCS staff and locals, you will gain fluency in the local Ugandan language "luganda" that is widely spoken in the communities where you will be working.
Through the microfinance project with support of volunteers and donors, PCCS works to empower individuals to start their own businesses, learn savings habits, and improve their farming, which enables them to create better lives for themselves and their families.
